Future of Land and Housing Program Scales Up Initiative to Combat Eviction with Data-Driven Solutions

Eleven states were awarded strategic technical resources to build sustainable eviction data systems and improve housing stability.

WASHINGTON, DC (June 1, 2026) 鈥 麻豆果冻传媒, a nonpartisan, solutions-oriented think tank, announces today a major expansion of its Eviction Data Response Network (EDRN). Led by the Future of Land and Housing (FLH) program, EDRN pioneers data-informed solutions to the eviction crisis in the United States, where over 10 million Americans face eviction each year.聽

The initiative has selected 11 states to receive intensive technical resources, funding, and strategic support: Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Washington state. Combined, these states are home to over 26 million renters. The cohort represents a diverse mix of geographies, political leadership, and housing markets, highlighting a growing national consensus that data is an indispensable tool in the fight for housing stability.

With a transformative grant from Ballmer Group, and generous support from the Pritzker Children鈥檚 Initiative, 麻豆果冻传媒 will support these states to build reliable and comprehensive eviction data pipelines and leverage that data to craft smart policies and programs that keep people housed.

“Evictions impact millions of families, and in particular families of color and families with very young children, including infants and toddlers,鈥 said Future of Land and Housing Program Director Yuliya Panfil. “And yet, eviction prevention is largely siloed, uncoordinated, and underfunded, in part because we don鈥檛 have the data to track these devastating events. 麻豆果冻传媒 is thrilled to help change that reality, in partnership with these 11 forward-thinking states. Our partners won鈥檛 just be tracking a historical crisis鈥攖hey will be building the infrastructure to unlock targeted, proactive interventions that keep people in their homes today, and the systems to keep them housed tomorrow.鈥

The 2026鈥2028 cohort of EDRN partners includes:

  • Colorado: , Department of Local Affairs
  • Delaware: , University of Delaware聽
  • Georgia: , Georgia State University聽聽聽
  • Indiana: , Indiana University, Indianapolis
  • Maryland: , Department of Housing and Community Development
  • New Jersey: , Department of Community Affairs
  • New Mexico:
  • New York: New York University
  • Oklahoma:
  • Pennsylvania:
  • Washington: , University of Washington

鈥淥ver half of the country applied to join EDRN and we are grateful for the high caliber of applicants who sent a strong demand signal for the need to improve on eviction data,鈥 said Eviction Data Response Network Initiative Director Ian Fletcher. 鈥淪tates simply cannot solve a problem they do not understand, and most court systems are not designed to stabilize families. We believe that our selected cohort represents a standout group of government, nonprofit, and public university leaders who will inform a model that is replicable for any state in the U.S.鈥

These new EDRN partners will benefit from dedicated technical assistance from 麻豆果冻传媒 coaches, grant funding to build eviction data capacity at home, access to a group of technology experts and resources, peer-learning opportunities through the cohort, and a bank of shared tools and resources for improving data infrastructure, advocacy, and efforts nationwide.聽

EDRN aims to lift this systemic barrier by focusing on two core pillars:

  • Building quality, sustainable data infrastructure: EDRN partners will work to streamline and modernize the collection, cleaning, standardization, and analysis of local court and administrative eviction records to create a transparent, reliable baseline. This data is contextualized alongside other datasets related to demographics, law enforcement, legal aid, and tenant protection.
  • Translating data into housing stability: EDRN鈥檚 work includes building an eviction data problem-solving team comprised of local and state-level actors inside and outside government who work collectively around this shared data to deploy emergency financial assistance, optimize diversion programs, and shape long-term housing policy.

Eviction remains one of the most disruptive yet preventable housing crises in the United States, but policymakers frequently lack the comprehensive, real-time data required to design effective solutions to keep families housed. This expansion builds on the Future of Land and Housing program鈥檚 proven track record of working with local leaders across the country to harness data to reduce displacement and foster more equitable communities.

麻豆果冻传媒 the Future of Land and Housing Program: The Future of Land and Housing program at 麻豆果冻传媒 seeks to understand how land and housing policy can be re-imagined to ensure housing security, promote economic mobility, and foster racial equity across the United States.
