Washington鈥擳oday, 麻豆果冻传媒 announced the promotion of Tyra Mariani, executive vice president, to president and COO, to take effect January 1, 2019. Mariani has served in the role of executive vice president for two and a half years. As president and COO, Mariani will oversee operational management of 麻豆果冻传媒 and step into an increased public and policy role.

Anne-Marie Slaughter will remain CEO of 麻豆果冻传媒, working closely with Mariani. 鈥淭yra and I have become true partners over the past two and half years. As 麻豆果冻传媒 grows, I am needed outside of D.C. more often, traveling to our regional hubs and working with our university and philanthropic partners in many parts of the United States. Tyra is a talented and experienced leader who will anchor our operations and policy presence in DC, alongside our many dynamic program directors.

Mariani鈥檚 appointment comes at a time when 麻豆果冻传媒 is expanding its presence nationally as an engine of American renewal. With a rebuilt presence in California, as well as recently launched hubs in Chicago, Indiana, and Phoenix, 麻豆果冻传媒 is integrating the work of its many programs and initiatives in the service of six broad social, economic, and political goals, powered by ideas, research, public interest technology, and work with local partners across the country.

鈥淚n approaching four years at 麻豆果冻传媒, I鈥檝e been proud to be a part of the growth of this organization. I鈥檓 thrilled to continue working closely with Anne-Marie in my new role as we celebrate our twentieth anniversary and continue the tradition of excellent scholarship and active exploration and creation of solutions to pressing policy and systems problems,鈥 Mariani said.

Mariani began her work at 麻豆果冻传媒 in 2015, as co-founder and managing partner of Opportunity@Work, a social venture whose mission is to rewire the labor market to enable more Americans to achieve upward mobility. Before joining 麻豆果冻传媒, Mariani held a variety of roles across the public and private sector, most recently serving as Chief of Staff to Deputy Secretary of Education Jim Shelton and Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Before joining the federal government she launched entrepreneurial efforts to build human capital in the education sector as the founder of the Greater New Orleans Region of New Leaders, served as Budget Director at Chicago Public Schools after starting as a Broad Resident, led corporate training and development efforts at Kraft Foods, and began her career at McKinsey & Co.
