Ambassadors throughout history have juggled the competing imperatives of communicating with their host nation's government, its people, and the leadership of the foreign government they represent. Social media has made this triangulation far more transparent and simultaneous, for better and worse. In the complex US-Mexico relationship, for example, ambassadors from each country in the other's capital in recent years to conduct a more personalized, immediate digital diplomacy.
