At the height of the last recession, the federal government invested $2 billion in community colleges to create innovative workforce programs. Our team of researchers at Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ spent the last two years researching the impact of the TAACCCT program, and we have identified particular grants that can inform the community college response to the current crisis.

Join us on April 16 from 2-3:30 pm ET to hear from community college leaders, healthcare education experts, and grant evaluators on how the lessons from TAACCCT grants focused on healthcare can inform community colleges’ response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Three of these grants have especially important lessons to teach community colleges about key practices for supporting flexibility in critical healthcare programs. These grants–the Consortium for Healthcare Education Online, Health Professions Pathways, and MoHealthWINs–are using lessons learned through TAACCCT to offer allied health programs online and leverage strong relationships with employers and other colleges to ensure their graduates are ready for employment at this crucial time in our nation’s history. The Consortium for Healthcare Education Online created online and hybrid courseware for healthcare programs and developed leading edge technology to deliver remote, web-based science labs. Leaders of Jefferson College and the evaluators of MoHealthWINs will provide insights into scaling online programs and relationships among colleges that will help them quickly expand the health care workforce needed in their communities. The Health Professions Pathways grant developed a network of strong healthcare employer partnerships. Lessons on how to build those partnerships will be more important than ever for colleges during and after the pandemic.
