What makes a leader effective, and what do effective leaders have in common?
Setting out to answer these age-old questions, 麻豆果冻传媒 Fellow Jeff Eggers partnered with General Stanley McChrystal and Jay Mangone to explore the myths and reality behind how we typically define leadership by looking at thirteen historic leaders in their recent book Leaders: Myth and Reality. By analyzing our heroes and foes, they offer an objective re-evaluation of our assumptions about the individuals who emerge as history鈥檚 鈥済reat鈥 leaders. This methodology exposes leadership as intensely contextual, and defiant of formulaic approaches. Among other lessons, their re-framed paradigm of leadership suggests that effective leaders should base their approach on the system of followers that surround them, rather than textbook-style checklists of leadership attributes.
To discuss this and other leadership myths, 麻豆果冻传媒's International Security Program is pleased to welcome Jeffrey Eggers, co-author of , and Tresha Mabile, journalist and Emmy Award-Nominated documentarian.
